A note on OPERA PRODUCTIONS at the Kenneth More Theatre

Opera has always featured heavily in the work of the KMT. In the early days this was provided by two very large and well known amateur opera companies – the Ivor Evans Opera Co and the Figaro Opera Group. These companies had disbanded by the early 1990s. From 1985 till 2004 the KMT formed its own opera company in association with New Decade Opera, a charity run by the late Edna Graham – a singer with credits at Covent Garden and Glyndebourne, etc – and a conductor of some note. The KMT’s opera company used young professional singers in the leading role, backed by specially recruited amateur choruses.

The KMT’s other operas have included:

BRITTEN, Benjamin

ALBERT HERRING (1994) & THE LITTLE SWEEP (1987)
