Probably the first amateur production in the UK of the latest hit play from Mike Leigh, the acclaimed writer and director of such plays and films as ‘Abigail’s Party’, ‘Secrets and Lies’ and ‘Vera Drake’. Rachel and Danny, a non-religious Jewish couple in north London find their cosy, Guardian newspaper-informed view of life turned upside down when their 28-year old son takes to religion and ritual in a big way. Added to that, are the arrival of their daughter’s Israeli boyfriend, and Rachel’s long-estranged sister who, although a successful merchant banker, destroys every relationship she encounters. It’s a play about loss of belief in religion, politics and society. It will also make you laugh. WARNING - This production features strong language A Wanstead Players Production Tickets: All seats £7.00 (Club Members £6.00 if paying a week or more in advance) Concessions: £5.25 |
