It
is 1910, another boat full of immigrants docks at Ellis Island.
Bewildered and scared, Rebecca and her son, David, descend onto
American soil, unaware of the challenges before them. “Rags” –
described by many as the sequel to “Fiddler on the Roof” - tells the
moving tale of their struggle to build a new life. Set to an
exquisite and powerful score, this is a theatrical experience not to
be missed. The music is by Charles Strouse (Annie), Lyrics by
Stephen Schwartz (Godspell) and Book by Joseph Stein (Fiddler
on the Roof)

“Titanic; the
greatest musical to have been written in 15 years. A triumph .
A score which
soars, a masterpiece.”
Sheridan Morley – The
Spectator
We are delighted to
present the Kenneth More Theatre Premiere
of this Tony Award winning musical - a moving account of the maiden
voyage of the “unsinkable” Titanic. In an exciting and emotional
journey the onboard story of real life passengers unfolds - such
memorable characters as Isidor & Ida Strauss, John Jacob Astor &
Thomas Andrews.
On board the “Ship of
Dreams”, the hopes and aspirations of the passengers, many seeking a
new life in America, are depicted through songs including the moving
“Godspeed Titanic” and the toe tapping “Doing the latest rag” . As
the great ship meets its fate, heart-breaking numbers such as “We’ll
meet Tomorrow” & “Still” are sure to bring a moving end to this
stunning show.
A show not to miss!

Elvis- the King of Rock’n’Roll – would have been
70 years old this year. It’s astonishing that - 27 years after his
death - his reissued records are still best-sellers. Even more
astonishing is his popularity with today’s teenagers. A group of
students from Seven Kings High School together with
fellow-students at Redbridge Music School and other local colleges
are getting together to stage this birthday tribute – an evening
made up entirely of Elvis songs, from the raunchy rock to the
poignant ballads. Any profits made will be donated to the Asian
Tsunami Disaster Fund.

Wednesday 11th - Saturday 14th
May 2005
It is Sixty Years this week since V.E. Day –
when, for most people, Victory in Europe marked the end of the
Second World War. (A “Forgotten Army” fought on in the Far East
until their war ended a few months later.) Throughout the War
servicemen and women were entertained by members of ENSA (The
Entertainment National Service Association) . ENSA consisted of
established artists like Vera Lynn, George Formby, Max Miller, Old
Mother Riley and a host of stars. There were also hundreds of lesser
artists – some of whom were, quite frankly, dreadful. The ENSA
shows were frequently renamed “Every Night Something Awful” by their
reluctant audiences.
We hope to recreate the
best bits – every one a winner – every act a gem – every item a
piece of real nostalgia for the long lost days of Variety. Come and
roll out the barrel, hang out your washing on the Siegfried Line,
and mark this special anniversary.

Felix
Humble – a 35 year old, overweight, bumbling scientist working on
something complicated to do with astrophysics and quantum mechanics
- has come home for his father’s funeral. His late father, James,
was a biology teacher and beekeeper – but the bees are being
destroyed on the orders of Mother – a gorgon with a tongue that
would cut granite. With her husband’s ashes hardly cold, she now
cavorts, to Felix’s horror, with crass, blustering George Pye, and
George’s daughter seems to be making a play for Felix. There’s a
touch of Hamlet about it all, until the party in the garden where
some untoward incidents befall the urn containing James’s ashes,
and then we’re in the realm of hilarious farce. Charlotte Jones’s
play was a smash-hit at the National Theatre before transferring to
Shaftesbury Avenue with Felicity Kendal. Clever, amusing,
intelligent, and a riotously good laugh! Make a bee-line for this
marvellous play! It does contain a small amount of strong language.
