Sherlock Holmes. . . Doctor Watson . . . and the creepiest story ever created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – all the elements are in place for a night in the theatre as chilly and as spooky as a night on Dartmoor itself. Tim Kelly has taken the classic spine-chiller novel and adapted it into a masterful stage work. Be prepared for your blood to curdle!

EVENINGS

Back in the 1950s Tom Lehrer, an otherwise inoffensive Harvard University mathematics teacher, issued an LP of allegedly humorous songs.  Inexplicably this LP sold over a million and a half copies, and became a “cult”. Sir Cameron Mackintosh (who should know better) even staged this tasteless and jaundiced material in the West End under the title “Tomfoolery”.  Incredibly this show has been revived many times all round the world  even though it offends everyone-  from pigeon-fanciers to Boy Scouts.  (On the other hand there are those who claim it is hilarious, biting and as hysterically funny today as it was all those years ago!)  You have been warned!  (Warned not to come – or warned not to miss it – depending on your sense of humour!)

Ladies in  Retirement

Leonora Fiske lives with her housekeeper-companion Ellen Creed in a lonely old house in the marshes of the Thames Estuary in the late 1880s.  Ellen introduces in to the house her two half-witted sisters and, when Leonora objects to their eerie presence, Ellen’s consuming passion for her sisters prompts her to take extreme action.  This classic murder play by Edward Percy and Reginald Denham is tense and compact, without a single wasted line of dialogue.
