THE MERRY WIDOW

All you need do is mention the name Franz Lehar, or the song "Velia", or just hum the tune of the "Merry Widow Waltz" - and suddenly all the images are there:  the glamour, the elegance, the opulence of Old Vienna.  This is one of the all-time favourite operettas and, if it runs true to usual KMT form, it is likely to sell out before you can down a glass of sparkling champagne.  Be sure to book early!

JAKE'S WOMEN

Neil Simon's recent plays have moved a long way from his earlier gag-driven comedies like "The Odd Couple".  This latest play still contains a series of hilarious one-liners, but there is a core of truth underneath.  Jake is a gag-writer for TV and is so engrossed in his fantasy life that he has trouble sorting out his true personality and his crumbling marriage.  The parade of women in his real and fantasy life is very funny and oddly touching.

CHRISTMAS CRACKERS

Many years ago "Christmas Crackers" was eagerly anticipated as the Theatre Club's annual Christmas party. Because of the technical demands of pantomime preparations we had to drop this regular date on the Sunday before the pantomime opened.  But the evening is back!  A little earlier than usual - but the same format:  the theatre staff and volunteers (together with a few guests) will entertain you for an hour or so with songs, comedy items and bits and pieces with a "Christmassy" feel - and then everyone will get together over a drink and a mince pie or two.  The ideal way to start celebrating the festive season.

Well, yes - he's a bigamist! And he has got away with it for 18 years.  But, then. . . John & Mary's teenage daughter and John & Barbara's teenage son accidentally log onto each other on the Internet.  To their amazement their fathers appear to have rather a lot in common.  They've got to meet. . .!  Recently released from the West End and for the first time ever at the KMT, join us for a riot of laughter.

A Double Bill by Anton Chekhov

The Swan Song:

Svetlovidov an aging comic actor stumbles out onto the boards and realizes he has fallen asleep in his dressing room and now the stage is empty, the show
over, and the audience long gone. Once a great artist, but now a confirmed drunk, Svetlovidov looks death in the face and gives his greatest performance as he reminiscences about his life and discovers the past and present somehow remain intact- but only on the stage.

On The Harmful Effects of Tobacco:

A peculiar and lone schoolteacher, who is simply "the husband of his wife", appears in the local town to give a lecture on The Harmful Effect of
Tobacco, a topic he actually knows nothing about but is required to speak on, as it was chosen for him by his fastidious and overbearing employer--his wife. He begins to stray from his given topic and recounts to the audience, very enthusiastically, many of his wife's less positive qualities, including her sharp tongue, mean spirit, and stingy disposition....
