COMPANY

All Bachelor Bobby’s friends are happily married (or are they?).  On his  35th birthday  the whole company arrives to urge him to find a wife.  He’s missing out on the joys of wedlock.  BUT. . .  in the course of  this tuneful, Broadway and London smash-hit musical, Bobby discovers marital bliss is very often marital  moaning, nagging, cheating and complaining!   Bobby thinks he’s better off with his succession of  brief flings (or is he?) . There’s laughs, tears and a few home truths in this ground-breaking musical by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth – staged for the first time at the KMT.

UK BEACH BOYS

This is the UK’s top tribute to the Beach Boys, with actual input from a member of The Beach Boys themselves . Formed in 2001, The UK Beach Boys were rehearsed under the watchful eye of Adrian Baker,  for several years a member of The Beach Boys.  Adrian was in the UK in the new year of 2002 giving advice to their UK counterparts to ensure a sound as authentic as possible.  And what a sound it is! With all your favourite songs from those days when the sun always shone, and the surf was always high. This is a nostalgic treat.

THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE

There are those who reckon they can do without love.  Until they get it, that is.  Then, once they’ve got it, they refuse to let it go again.  Indeed, if the truth be told, there is very little they wouldn’t do for love.

“Things We do for Love” is the most recent West End hit comedy from Alan Ayckbourn. (“This memorably bruising comedy is a Private Lives for the Nineties” – The Guardian) With its ingenious set and a superb cast it comes to the KMT for the first time. Be sure to book early!

IOLANTHE

Banished from Fairyland because she married a mortal, the fairy Iolanthe is the mother of Strephon,  who is, of course, only half a fairy! And Strephon is in love with a top politician’s ward! Hilarity arises when Iolanthe sends her son into Parliament to reek havoc with his fairy powers.  This delightful operetta will send you tripping hither and thither, from the pompous world of the Lord Chancellor, through the Queen’s Fairy Kingdom to a world where, eventually, everyone’s a fairy! Gilbert’s wicked mockery, combined with one of Sullivan’s most sparkling scores, makes this eternally popular piece of musical comedy a production not to be missed.

RADIO TIMES

It’s the height of the Blitz, and the BBC’s comedy show “Radio Times” is being broadcast from the stage of London’s Criterion Theatre (the one that’s built deep underground).  The sketches and the songs (like “Hey Little Hen”, “Ali Baba’s Camel”, “Let the People Sing” and “The Fleet’s in Port Again”) may be cheerful, but coping with the BBC Censor, temperamental performers and falling bombs is quite an undertaking.  This delightful piece of nostalgic fun features many well known songs from the composer Noel Gay.
