DAY
OF RECKONING
In the Village Hall the Fête Committee meets
on a cold January evening. Later, on a hot July afternoon, the Hall
becomes the command centre for the Fête itself. The committee includes
nosey Ethel, long-suffering Pauline, horsey Marjorie, elderly Mavis, and
reveals a world of gossip, innuendo, secrets and hidden agendas. If
you’ve ever seen a committee in action, you cannot fail to enjoy Pam
Valentine’s comedy of life in a British village.

A music-lover’s delight from start to finish,
Stephen Sondheim’s classic is a seamless fusion of fairy-tales that
strikes at the child’s heart within us all. A baker and his wife
journey into the woods in search of a cow, a red cape, hair as yellow as
corn and a golden slipper – all necessary to lift the curse that has
kept them childless. They meet up with a beguiling cast of characters
including Cinderella, Rapunzel, a lascivious Wolf and a vengeful Giant,
who will weave their magic spell over you in songs such as “No One is
Alone”, “There are Giants in the Sky” and the haunting “Children Will
Listen”.

Mike Harding (author of “Fur Coat & No Knickers”) had another smash hit
with this comedy. It starts with a charabanc outing to Whitby. The
holiday gets off to a lively start as the Shangri-Las provide the music
for the Olde Time Dancing, but things start to go wrong! Love and laugh
at this North Country comedy but be prepared for a few rude and naughty
bits.

ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD
Greek
mythology? Well, not exactly! Homer didn’t write about a namy-pamby
Orpheus, a flirty Eurydice and an overbearing mother-in-law, Calliope.
The King of the Gods, Jupiter, didn’t have a nightmare family, and the
King of Hades, Pluto, didn’t run a Bacchanalian Paradise where the
Can-Can was all the rage. Homer didn’t tell this story - but Offenbach
did! And it’s Offenbach’s highly disrespectful romp amongst the gods
and their girlfriends that makes this one HELL of a show!
